The Obligatory Introduction….
Or, what on earth am I doing starting *another* blog.
The story goes like this. I read a book and the book started a rather interesting chain of thought. The book was *The Thrift Book* by India Knight – and very good it is too. I was hoping to learn lots of interesting ways to be frugal from this book, and I learned one way, that I have been resisting since I was old enough to. Apparently, one can save alot of money from cooking from scratch, and cooking properly.
Problem number 1: I cannot cook.
Problem number 2: I actually hate cooking.
However, in the spirit of adventure, I am going to attempt this new frugal existence. The last grocery shop came to a huge £43, which is massive for the two of us. But, in there I bought a chicken, and a good sized one at that. I bought a packet of pre peeled and prepared veg – seriously – I could not buy them cheaper if they were unprepared and I bought a pack of stir fry vegetables – you know – all in with bean sprouts and stuff.
Last night we had roast chicken dinner. Yes, I roast a chicken and made gravy. Details will follow later. Tonight I plan on chicken stir fry with pasta… I’ll report when the verdict is in.
And so, post 2 will be roast chicken, post 3 will be chicken gravy. That way, I keep this place as a reference tool for the future, and hopefully for the hundreds of followers this blog will eventually grow to have!
